  2. Three pounds per week is certainly possible. A recommended healthy rate of weight loss is 1-2 pounds/week. Three isn't pushing that too terribly. To maintain healthy weight loss, so you're not doing your body more harm than good, skip the fad diets. No juice fasts or soup diets. You absolutely must eat. 1600-2200 calories per day, depending on factors like height/weight (BMI), age, gender, activity level. Your body needs these calories in order to maintain functions and give you the energy your need to burn calories and fat. I've included links below for a couple of great programs that are smart, healthy and set you up for long-term success, not immediate fast weight loss than can creep back once you finish. So you should aim to burning about 500 calories a day, besides normal activity Here are some ways to achieve that goal -Walk up and down the stairs ALOT, or take the stairs not evevator -Get a pedometer, and keep track of how much you walk, try to take a few thousand more steps than usual! -go on a walk, if you have a dog bring him and play frisbee, any extra activity like that burns calories -purchase handweights and use them while watching tv (do some lunges with the weights to increase calorie burn--this will lead to a faster metabolism) -go on jogs, look into a gym membership or purchasing a elliptical -Just take the extra steps, par further, go outside and BE ACTIVE! You might start with slow weight loss, but if you eat healthy, and exercise you CAN lose the weight! good luck :)
