Can you lose pounds and inches if you only lift weights at the gym?

  1. You may gain because muscle weighs more.
  2. With a proper diet, you will lose body fat. Initially, you will see the pounds come down, but there will be a point to start to gain weight again. This is actually good, because you will be adding muscle, which looks much, much better and is healthier than fat. As far as inches, it depends on what part of the body. If it is a part with a lot of fat, then you will lose inches. But as you add muscle, other parts will probably add inches. I've added inches to my arms and chest, and lost inches around my waist, hips, and thighs.
  3. As long as you do some form of resistance training with your diet and cardio then you will loose inches but remember muscle is heavier than fat so do not be concerned with weight just look at the results in the mirror. You do not have to restrict your resistance training to the gym. To break up the monotony, in the summer, i bring dumbbells to the track with me and utilize them in many ways like walking the bleachers with them, 100 yard walking squats etc. also, there are a ton of things you can do with your own body weight at the track. You could also bring one of them large balls with you and do dumbbell flies, shoulder presses, bench presses on it, the list goes on just use your imagination. Don’t worry about what you look like doing that because everyone usually compliments you on how hard that looks and will usually inquire as to what you are doing so give it a try in the spring.
