I need to lose around 15-20 pounds.. how to stop the cravings?
i need to lose around 20 pounds fairly quickly, and i eat pretty healthy but i have those moments (sometimes a few times a day!!!) when i just have the craving to eat chocolate or chips or anything thats bad for you! how can i quit this?

- just substitute food you crave for healthy food. you can eat as much vegetables and salads as you want all day. and chicken, can never have enough chicken

- plain oatmeal works best for me. (no sugar, no salt) it's healthy and it seems to keep my stomach happy for a while. i use to crave junk food like crazy too, but this has been working for me.
- Actually you can have too much chicken, but 2nding the salads. Also drink lots of water, or ice water with a couple slices of lemon or lime in water for taste.
- First off, don't buy these things, second, eating healthy is only half the picure. You need to exercise to get the full effect of healthy food. Also, don't shop for grocheries hungry.
- If you need to loose weight quickly, you're setting yourself up for long term failure. The redeeming thing about your question is that you are aware about your out of control snacking and want to stop. That is more reasonable. The best answer to that is do not stop snacking, have fruit instead of chocolate. Also drink alot of water. Sometimes the body mistakes thirst for hunger, and your body has to spend calories to heat up water to a usable temperature.
- tips---dont have junk in the house (or just a littel and pig out once a week or somthing) and reduced fat u really cant just dnt think about junk and if u have alll healthy food think about them and hopefully u will crave healthy stuff and b less temted 4 junk food ... hope i helped!!
- Do something else entirely. I've tried the substituting healthy foods trick, and it doesn't really work for me, because then my mind is still on eating and I feel unsatisfied. Try checking your e-mail or walking around the block or a row of knitting or something. Then you won't be thinking about food at all. Distract yourself. Once you're no longer thinking abou chocolate, the cravings fade pretty quickly. Good luck!
- Try eating walnuts, or any kind of nut. Only a handful though and they can't be coated with chocolate, honey ect. They make you feel full & are healthy.
- eat more protien. its filling and boosts your metabolism things like eggs and nuts have a lot of protien. stay away from sweets and sugary foods. make sure you're taking in lots of water (not soda, flavored waters, juice.) just plain old water. thats the best thing you can do and if you did only this and stuck to it it would probably shed you 5 lbs. try and exercise an hour a day at least 5 days a week. even just walking. if youre eating sweets try and substitute it for healthy treats. I use vanilla yogurt and put peach slices and maple syrup on it. it acts as a desert without being horrible for you.

- substitute all the junk food with healthy food. but dont think just becuse its healthy you can eat as much as you want..thats not true i've read many books and magazines and they all stated that as well.. you to keep you on the "diet" or whatever you wish to call it give yourself a treat every once in a while..treat yourself for not eating junk food for a whole week or two

If you cant stand the cravings anymore just have pieces or small amounts, like three chips or 3 M&M's. - Jogging!! It burns a lot of calories! when you have a craving try chewing a piece of gum that helps me. Cut out Sodas drink water and unsweet tea. You just have to use your will power to break the craving cycle. I did it by not eating anything with sugar and very little carbs for 10 days and it killed my cravings for it! But mostly lower calorie intake, write down what you eat it will make you realize how many calories you are really taking in. even if you just write it down for a week it will help! Good luck!
- Hey i've lost 30 pounds, and i go crazy hearing about people trying to loose weight by not eating, i lost weight by educating myself about nutrition. First when it comes to a diet, DONT GIVE UP, but be healthy about it. IF you just dont eat or do not eat atleast 1300( for female) calories a day, your body starts freaking out and thinking your starving so it holds on to all the fat in your body in order to survive, and you end up becoming frusterated wondering why am i not loosing any weight, just feeling yucky. Then if you actually stick on to that routine of not eating for a few months you start to loose weight, but its your muscle you are loosing, your body is starving with no food so it starts to eat your muscles, and by this time your body attitude has changed and your addicted to not eating. Than due to lack of calcium your teeth start to turn brown and eventually break in half or fall out, but i guess thats good since you dont need them for eating anyways! Also you will loose your hair, this is not a lifestyle. I've had personal experience wtih weight loss and i concured it, you can too but you HAVE TO EAT! Cut out all sugar/junk food/ cookies and all. Eat every 3 hours. Like at 6 i wake up and have all fruit for breakfast and than at 9 i have a snack of raw fruits or vegetables, at 12 i eat a slimfast bar and half a turkey sandwhich or something, at 3 i have another snack of vegetables or a fruit, and for dinner i have meats like chicken with no skin, or fish that has not been fried with half a plate of vegetables. Raw veggies are better than cooked actually because they loose nutrients when they are cooked. Plus you gotta excersize, even if its 30 minutes a day, if you have ON DEMAND like on your tv, they have free excersize videos you can do, thats what i do. I also got into yoga, 5 months later i went from a size 12-13 to a 4-5, and i was at 156, now i'm at 126, and i'm 5'6 tall.
- okay, this might be bad but this is what i did. you eat normal portions. breakfast,lunch,snack (maybe) and diner, all healthy and then whenever your craving food ,workout instead be if you want chocolate do situps in place of eating it. it might be dumb but its good exercise and definetly works
