Lose pounds and inches

how much excersize should I do to lose 40 pounds in 2 months?

I'm 16. 5'4. around 168 pounds. I'd like to lose 40 pounds in 2 months [by the end of summer]. For some reason it's hard for me to diet, I either pig out or don't eat at all...ever. I think it's because i dont know what to eat...or how much i should [to acheive the goal] Excersizing is a huge issue, I get bored easily. I'm not allowed to go out [dont ask why], but all I have is a treadmill and weights. How many miles should I be walking/jogging per day to lose the 40 pounds in 2 months?

  1. first, i think that you should switch up your eating habbits, have less food more times a day. for example in the mornings you should have a bowl of cereal with 2% milk or rice milk or soy milk and a fruit. for lunch some fruits and veggies or a salad and some form of steamed or poached fish...nothing with grease and if has to have some form of fat then olive oil. for an inbetween meal snack have like a granola bar and water... drink plenty of water during the day. for dinner- not so much carbs and have proteins and veggies! as for exercising every other day switch from cardio(running) to toning (weight training) start with cardio running for 30 minutes at a pace that your comfortable with then pick up the pace when you get acostomed to that pace. then target one area and add crunches when it comes to the belly and stuff like that...you should lose about 30-40 lbs if you continue doing that every day
  2. diet is essential in losing weight. in my opinion, 40 pounds in 2 months is a bit drastic. if you are serious about dieting the best choice is to contact a dietitian or some professional on weight loss. if this are not an option, then eat fresh fish, fresh fruit and veggies and cut down on carbs(stuff with starch in them) for exercise, just remember to keep consistancy in your workout plan. maybe 1 hour a day of jogging. the most effective way of burning fat is weight lifting and then high intensity cardio in intervals. for example sprinting. you can utilize many things in your house for example your stairs and run up and down them, or run sprints in your backyard. never give up and keep your head up : )
  3. First off, 40 pounds is WAYYYYY too much weight to HEALTHILY lose in two months. A HEALTHY weight to lose (and keep off) is one to two pounds a week. Personally, I think walking is the best exercise. If you have access to your favorite music, You can just rock out while walking. Help keeps you from getting too bored. Second, Losing weight is 80% mental. If you don't change your mindset, you won't stop bad behaviors, and you won't committ to losing the weight. All that I speak from is self taught, things that I have learned. And in February 2007, I weighed in at 281 pounds at thte doctors office, and now I weigh 259. So I am getting there, so can you. It is really important that you get a support system behind you, so they can encourage you and cheer you on as you work your way to a healthier you. Good Luck!!
