What is a safe way to lose 30 pounds in a half a year?

Im 5'5'' and I weigh about 165 and I want to lose at least 30 pounds.Im an exchange student in Switzerland so I will have to eat a lot of swiss food but I hate cheese and i dont eat a lot of chocolate so i dont have to worry about that.What kind of food and exercise would you reccomend and do you think 6 months is a decent amount of time to lose the weight.
