What is an effective way to lose 30 pounds?
I want to lose about 30 pounds. I have one of those exercie bikes and I would like to use that. Any ideas on how long, how many days a week, and the intensity I should ride the bike for? Also any information on things I should do with my diet and any other information would be very helpful. Finally, how long does it take before I start to notice results? And how long to lose the whole 30 pounds? I'm 5'8'' and weigh about 170 and I'm 19 years old.

- put down the fork
- go http://www.ediets.com and the other good site is http://www.diet-i.com this have good diet plans that are healthy and exercises like walking and running.
- Whole grain wheat bread and creamy/crunchy peanut butter and come honey with cinnamon, and a tablespoon of honey with cinnamon powder on top before bed regularly. do crunches, 170 is about how much I weigh and I'm 5'11" and I am slim/athletic (just need a flatter stomach though, hence crunches till it 'burns' and go as much as you can
- Hold back on the burgers, cheese, fries and soda. Ride the bike every day at least for 1 hour. No fried food; for liquids, just drink water. Eat small amounts of food every 3 hours. Take a LIQUID vitamin/mineral/antioxidant supplement. I have heard the Acai Plus supplement is pretty good. If you would like info on how to get it, just email me.
- jog work out at the gym in your town or city.
- I'm not an exercise freak but I can tell you what has been working for my wife- a healthier diet consisting of more veggies and fruits, not as much on the dinner plate, she rides the bike at the gym for 20 minutes and the stair master another 15. So far she's been losing a little over a pound per week. We didn't notice the results until about 2 weeks later. For me I worked at a company that delivers wine and spirits for a couple weeks and lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks. Just set up realistic goals and stick to them.
- Good for you that you wanna get in shape! I lost 54 lbs and you can see my before and after pic here - http://www.healthandstrength.net Here is what I did and still do to maintain health. Hopefully they can be used by you too! 1. NEVER EVER ate sugar. It's a poison that makes us older, sicker, fatter and tired...all things we dont want. Seriously, sugar is the one who does the dirty work in weight gain. Stop eating it all together. You can see my list of ingredients to avoid when shopping here http://www.healthandstrength.net/qofweeka.htm... 2. Drink ALOT of water. 2-3 liters a day. The more the merrier! We need about half our body weight in ounces JUST for regular body functions! When you feel thirsty, that means you are already dehydrated and lose brain function. Water flushes toxins from your fat cells and keeps you younger. 3. Exercise!!! So very important. Here http://www.healthandstrength.net/abexe.htm... are my favorite ab exercises. I also do cardio 4-5 days a week for about 30 minutes a time. For your bike, I would do the same. Don't get out of breath, you should be able to maintain a conversation or sing pieces of a song without dying. :) Add weights! They can help you tone so when you do lose all that you can see em! 4. Eat less. How many calories do you think is in that burger or that plate of fries or in that handful of chips. What about overfilling our plates? If you go here http://www.healthandstrength.net/qofweek.htm... I wrote something about saving on calories and losing weight. 5. Go to sleep before 10pm. Your body starts repairing and rebuilding and speeding up weight loss while you sleep only if you sleep at about 10pm. If you are awake and go to bed at 12, you miss out on that very important time. I have a good article on my site here http://www.healthandstrength.net/qofweekb.htm that talks about the importance of sleep and how STRESS can make actually make you fatter. 6. BE POSITIVE. Be thankful every day and love yourself 7. BE CONSISTANT! That I think is the KEY to losing weight. So what if you went a week and only lost a pound...or didnt lose any...KEEP going. DON'T stop. This is a lifelong commitment, so stick to it and one day you will open your eyes and need a new wardrobe! 8. Eat more veggies and skinny friendly foods. I have my list of my top ten foods that I ate to lost weight here http://www.healthandstrength.net/tenfoods.htm... 80% veggies at every meal including breakfast will keep you young and help you lose weight. 9. Do the little things that count! Check out 10 cool ideas that you can do to help boost your calorie burn throught the day here: http://www.healthandstrength.net/tips.htm Good luck and don't forget that YOU are the only one who decides what foods enter your body and how long you sit around. Make the change, take the chance and give yourself time! You can do it. I know you can!
- You can lose the weight on any healthy eating plan but what's important is to find the eating plan you can stick with for life. If you go off the plan after you've lost the weight you'll just gain it all back and more if you revert back to what you were previously eating. That's the reason most dieters fail. So do your research before you begin and don't be afraid to switch from one plan to another as you are losing. Consider it a learning process for maintaining your weight. For ideas on the various plans you can search Google or go to the Weight Loss forum at About.com. You'll see kinds of comments there about the various plans as well as articles at the site home page... http://forums.about.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?webtag=ab-weightloss I do know what I'm saying. I've had weight issues all my life and had lost quite a bit of weight twice before. It wasn't until early in 2004 that I found the plan that actually works for me. I've maintained a 70 lb. loss for two years now. Previous to this loss I had always started gaining again within just a couple of months of hitting my goal weight. So you see... The magic for keeping it off is to choose an eating plan that keeps you happy and doesn't eliminate the foods you like the most. Everyone is different when it comes to results, although most people have significant losses during the first week or two. Most of it is just water but it's nice to see the scale drop so quickly. Losing one to two pounds per week is ideal after the first couple of weeks. Losing faster means you're losing muscle rather than fat and could also be starving yourself, which can permanently screw up your metabolism. You can also get good answers to your exercise questions at the Weight Loss forum. There are many people there who are practically experts. You can also find good information at many of the exercise sites at About.com. Good luck!
- I lost 24 pounds and 2 3/4" in my waist in 30 days. I still have 27 more pounds to go. I did this on a no diet weight loss plan that is natural and healthy and only requires about 10-15 minutes of your time daily. You do not skip meals or have to eat or buy special foods and I even lost this without exercise. IM or e-mail me through my profile if you are interested in finding out more details about this.
- Michael, exercise alone will NOT result in your losing weight. You MUST lower the amount of calories in your diet IMMEDIATELY and PERMANENTLY. I wanted to lose 20 pounds, and it was hard, but I did it. AND I have kept it off. First, find a diet that allows you no more than 2,000 calories a day. I can't tell you what that is - you have to find one to fit your lifestyle and taste preferences - but it must be no more than 2,000 calories per day. You must have reasonable goals. Don't expect to lose more than 4-5 pounds per month after the first couple of weeks. So, make that your goal. And do not look at going back to old eating habits once you attain your weight loss goal. The changes you make to your diet should be permanent. Exercise will help you keep muscle tone and lose a little more weight, but get into it gradually. Build up to 30 minutes at a high intensity on your bike - 3 times a week.
