How can I lose 15 pounds by Christmas?
I would like to lose 15 pounds by Christmas without exercising my tail off. I have a hard time committing to exercise, I work full time and have two children and it seems when I do get started, I get interrupted. Every since I was put on an anti-depressant, I have been packing it on, going off the pills is not an option. However, I can control what I eat. I already drink 8 glasses of water a day. I try eating healthy, but I am still gaining. Anyone know how to help me shed these pounds?

- Very possible. If you have the money I Would recommend a personal trainer. Jogging , If you have stairs in your home , Try going up and down them atleast 10 times dailey. Or do it at work . Eat atleast 1 Big salad a day , Nothing from mcdonalds , their salads are horrid go to a healthy food market or just your regular market. and buy salads there or better yet Make them your self! Use light salad dressings , Dont use like thousands islands. Goto the park more with your children if they're young.. If not go by your self. If you have a gym membership or weights at home use them , Or do Push-ups the women one's of course! Do 3 sets of , 30 , Every other day , Each day you do it , Increase them by another 5 , and the following week , Go back down to 30 , and keep doing it. And crunches , extremely hard , Try doing 3 sets of 15 ..Every other day. And remember add 5 more Just like with push ups , And the following week go back down to 15. After Each Set Only take like a 45 Second Break , No more. When doing them , During the break Always , I Mean always have a bottle of water with you , to drink. Buying smoothies , Healthy ones are very good , Also Eat a banana or any other type of fruit dailey and If you're hungry get a protein bar to snack on. I Hope this helps.
- eat less calories and balance ur diet.
- try the special k diet! you can lose 10lbs in 2 weeks www.specialk.com gl and HAPPY HOLIDAYS! BUT REALLY YOU SHOULD WORK OUT WITH LESLIE SANSONE!! she is the best. www.walkawaythepounds.com
- weightwatcher.com... has helped me lose 20 pounds and keep it off... I do the "CORE DIET". who knows.. it may work for YOU TOO. Another trick... DIET IN PAIRS. If you have a partner... get them to eat as you do.
- cut your calories to 1500-1200/day...cutting calories is the only way to go if you arent going to exercise. try tho, try to get out and at least take a 30 minute walk 3x a week. it will tone you, so when you lose the weight you won't look like an "empty bag", you know what i mean?
- cut salt, it makes you retain water. try just running up and down the stairs a few extra times a day. you need to get your heart rate up for 30 straight minutes, you can try popping in some of your favorite music and dancing around while doing house work, i used to do that when i dusted. now when i feel like it, i listen to music and dance in the mirror for about 9-10 songs. its fun and its exercising!!
- Eat so your body never feels hungry! Eat 6 small meals a day, you can eat healthy but then eat too much, or not eat enough. You'll pack on the lbs because if you feel hungry your body goes into a starvation mode and grabs whatever you eat and stores it for fat. Make sure you're never hungry, NEVER skip breakfast!!!! Doing any kind of exercise adds up, park your car further away from the store, walk steps 2 minutes a day 5 times a day it's equivelent to a 40 min workout. Always take the steps, go for small walk and walk briskly, climb a hill, walk with the kids, anything helps!! Good luck!
- I've found diets low in carbohydrates to be the most helpful for me. I did atkins, but found it harsh. I'm on the carbohydrate addicts diet now and it's changed more than my weight. It's helped me control my hormones as well, so I don't have those urges to snack out of anxiety. if you can't deal with the structure of these diets, try just removing sugar and and salt and avoid processed foods with added chemicals. I've lost 17 pound in 6 weeks. I'd like it to be faster, but this is healthier.
- Talk to your doctor
- Avoid all fast foods and leftover Halloween candy.
- I have never dieted out right I have always fasted for the hungry people of the world...And the sick and the homeless...And for all the needs of the world...And it works....You just do without eating ...like giving up your full course meals for some one who is hungry ....Try it it works....When you start to eat what you no is going to add pounds give it up for someone you think might be going without something to eat that day....God bless you and try it it will work and it makes you fill better about yourself...And you will see results.....
- Talk with your Doctor, some anti-depressant, will put it on. You walk 30 min 2 times a day. And watch what you eat. Also drink more water. But see your Doctor first.
- Ok, here's another dose of the truth......Exercise is the only way to shed the pounds from anti-depressants....eating right will help too (but you need exercise)......sweety what are you on? you may e-mail me so we can talk....anti-depressants have many side effects that can be long term......You need to find a way to deal with the problems and get off the drugs....in a few years you may have bad memory problems ect, ect that will effect your children
- My wife and I lost 5lbs in 1 week and were on the way to more (but got distracted!!) The fat smasher diet by Dr. Ian from celebrity fit club seems to work great...like that one lady was saying eat 5-6 meals a day about every 3 hours eat something....but lay off the carbs and fat focus on fruit and veggies for sure...eat till you feel full on that stuff. The book was great...and you can always drink more water.
- sorry bout the anti depressant thing, because it could be the kicker, but with the schedule you are on and small children, my dear lord....hey only thing i can offer is what worked for me..4 years ago in November of 2002, took about 6 months-8 months tops, lost 75 pounds...before I really started to excercise. Always a battle and I can add 10 lbs in a heart beat when I revert back to my bad habits. The water thing, lately I have been reading it is a myth...but don't stop if you are a water drinker. If you eat late, after 6 or 7 in the evening....quit it right now!!!!!! Don't eat late, if you have an urge after those hourse, go drink that water or put the food in your mouth, chew it up and spit it out. Stop cleaning your plate, each and every time...leave something on there. If your drinking sodas, cut back way back or cut them out completely. I found diet mt dew. usually hate diet drinks but this one doesn't taste funny..not really..especially when cold and has the caffeine I need to keep some energy but none of the calories. Best advice, review your habits..you say you try to eat healthy, but everyone's version of healthy is different. You could always try the thryoid approach, but usually it is just another crutch people take when they don't want to admit..it is them that is causing the weight problem. All I know, it worked for me. Was hard at first and I went to bed hungry a few times. Once I got up in the AM now, different story. I ate all the time. Not junk food completely, but not a health nut either. Just no more super size, no more cleaning your plate, smaller portions, try to move around...two kids...you shouldn't have a problem there. Don't eat after 7, no matter what. Try it, and once you start, you eat during the day..at work or home...eat smart to, but don't completely deprive yourself either it only makes temptations stronger....but by the end of the day...leaving work..your full and you don't need food for the rest of the day. All I can say is I lost 75 lbs trying this, and people at work would say...how can you be loosing weight I see you eating all the time. I did also eat a lot of rotissery meat cooking...very healthy. Try it, it might work. The anti-depressant will add weight, but only as much as you allow. Been there, prozac, zoloft, alot of them. Off of them for several years now. Friend of mine suggested St Johns Wart as an herbal supplement...depends on why you are taking the anti-depressant. Good luck sweetie. It is a tough time of year, but you know what I started on Thanksgiving day of 2002, and I will never go back. Woman always carry about 10 lbs extra water weight..especially bout every 28 days...if your a late eater and your portions are too big and you know it...try it..what you got to loose but weight.
- First, for all of the "quick and easy" weight loss diet pill suggestions, remember, if something sounds too good to be true... it probably is, particularly if you have to pay for it. On Yahoo!Answers I find certain questions being asked repeatedly which is simply a reflection of new people participating. A couple of common questions amount to "How do I lose weight," or more specifically, "How do I lose abdominal fat?" I have gotten very positive responses from my answers when I paused to reply (and now beginning to get "It works!" emails that are very gratifying. I like helping people)... so have recently decided to put a good solid answer on my Yahoo!360 Blog (September 10) that I can point people to. These are my thoughts as a physician and athlete. Don't target losing more than about 2 lbs per week. If you try to lose faster, your body will go into "starvation mode" and get very stingy about burning calories while at the same time very efficient about storing any calories that you do provide. And it will make you feel awful. There is no site specific way of losing fat... the old myth about working your abs to burn belly fat isn't true. To get rid of love handles, you need to lose overall fat. That happens with exercise and watching your diet. More on that below. The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode. Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy. To lose a pound of fat, you need to eliminate about 3500 calories. You can do this by burning more with exercise or by modifying your diet to reduce intake. If you do a Google search on say, "swimming calories" you will quickly find a website with tables of calories burned for a given exercise. You can use such lists to estimate how many calories you are burning up with your routine. For diet, keep a diary for a couple of weeks counting calories, grams of protein, and grams of fat intake. It is easy with online sources of nutritional information (type the name of the food and calories into the Google search engine) and packaging labels. That will let you quickly figure out where the fat is coming from in your diet. Fat gives you 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat, multiply by 9, then calculate what percentage the fat calories are of your total daily calories. Restricting the calories from fat to about 20% of your total intake is ideal for a maintenance diet... that isn't overly restrictive. Of note, you need some fat in your diet. For instance, the body uses fat to produce hormones. Once you have a picture of how to modify your diet, you can drop the diary and just go back to it occasionally if you are wanting to tweek things further. There is a subset of questions that goes further and asks about "How to get a six-pack?" The answer is the same. Six-packs are 20% abdominal exercise and 80% diet. There is one caveat... abdominal muscles will form in the position that you work them, so be certain to pull them tightly toward your spine while doing crunches, etc. Also, during most lifting, the "core is active" which means that you should be stabilizing with contracted abs then too. Fail to do this and the abs will form, but bulging outward and the result is not attractive. If you are trying to build muscle as a way to lose fat, then you may need to increase total calories and specifically your protein intake. I target about 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight each day when actively building. That is far more protein than most people need in their diets. Aloha
