How many calories do I need to burn to lose 10 pounds?

I eat about 1600-1800 calories a day and I do 30 minutes of cardio everyday. What else do I need to do to lose 10 pounds?

  3. yes 3500 = 1 lb.. but you also have a lot of water weight.. if you reduce your sodium intake.. you can drop excess water too...
  4. It takes 3500 calories to lose a pound. So if you want to lose 10 pounds you'd have to lose a total of 35000 calories. I think your amount of calories is fine. It's a little on the low side, but with the amount you say you're eating, I'm going to assume it's not all junk food calories. I do suggest eating more protein and fiber, because they help regulate your metabolism and digestion. DON'T CUT OUT CARBS. It's good that you do 30 minutes of cardio everyday, but I think you need to change that up a bit. What do you do for cardio? Tredmill? Bike? Elliptical? How hard is your workout? I personally am a big fan of the Elliptical because you burn more calories faster, with less effort, and yo u can control the resistance (patterns). Would it be possible to do that for say, 40 minutes, every other day? Your body will eventually get tired from doing it every other day and you'll plateau. Also, do you use weights? Weight machines and free weights are great to lose inches. I know girls are always worried about bulking up by using weights, but if you use the proper amount, you'll tone up but not bulk up. If you want to lose weight as away of loosing inches, don't completely focus on the weight itself, focus more on the measurements. During the process you might gain muscle from the workout. Muscle weighs more than fat. It's good to set a goal weight, but also take into consideration a goal measurement.

  6. 10 body pounds is 70% water, so 7 of those pounds is water. 3 pounds of body weight is 1.4 kg which is 1400 grams. 1400 grams of fat (9 calories) yields 12600 calories 1400 grams of carbs or protein (4 calories) yields 5600 calories. Now all you have to do is add another activity or just do more cardio. Calculate how many calories per minute you burn. You will divide either fat calories or sugar/protein calories by that number to get how many minutes you need to work out to burn off those 3 pounds.
