How much do I have to exercise to lose 10 pounds?

I am 10 pounds overweight, and would like to lose them by new year's. How can I do this without dieting, but by exercising? I will ALWAYS choose my own best answer, and check every day. The best answer will win. Thanks! Forgot to add this, I usually eat normally, and don't eat fast-food if I don't have to. Again, forgot to add, I will diet, eating better, but nothing serious, like low carb, atkins, ect. Thanks for all of the answers here, I'll sort out best answer 3 days from now.

  1. 3500 calories = one pound of weight loss. You can shoot for this amount per week, and safely lose one lb a week until new years. This means maintaining or lowering your current caloric intake as is. Good luck :)
  2. use your legs. you can lose the most weight by excercising your legs. by running one mile, you can lose up to 130 calories if you run a 10:00 mile. 3500=1 lbs. Also swimming can help, just dont overeat after you have excercised. jsut eat the same amount that you naormaly do. i play water polo and ive lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks, but i play for 3 hours everyday, even on weekends. its hard but if you put your mind to it, you can do it.
  3. If you want to lose weight then you have to combine exercise with a healthy diet. Keep eating the right foods in the right portions and add aerobics/cardio with some weight lifting and there you go!
  4. do 30 minutes of cardio everyday... try out pilates, it'll help to tone your muscles ... do some light weights
  5. At least 6 times a week .
  6. If u want 2 lose 10#-- drink water--at least twice as much as usual. u'r body will motabolize the h2o faster & raise u'r ability 2 loose w8!
  7. eat less..way less. walk everywhere eat less eat child size portions or senoir size these sizes are more normal than the amount of food we think we need
  8. You dont have to do much. If you use your common sense then youll be fine. And about dieting. BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION. You can look like great if you have a healthy diet and normal exercise. What goes in determines what you look like. Exercise is great but for looks its not mandatory. Exercising helps increase metabolization so youre gonna get more results the more you do work out. Just walk the stairs and dont use the elevator. Stop eating the instant you feel like youre good. Dont ever wait after that since the brain takes 15 minutes to recognize that its full. Just drink water before and after meals and workouts. WATER DOESNT MAKE YOU BLOAT. Thats few individuals. I mean FEW. It washes all the crap you might eat during the day and keeps you hydrated and helps clean your insides. And dont drink pop. High fructose corn syrup. The 2nd ingredient after carbonated water in ALL soft drinks. Stops the signal from going to the brain from the stomach saying its full. Thats why sometimes you can eat a few bowls of cereal or drink cans of pop at a time. Little things make a BIG difference!
  9. How can I do this without dieting, but by exercising?.. well if everyone knows the answer to that there would be less fat people in the world. but what you're asking is impossible... exercising and dieting is the best answer to your problem...
  10. Its simple math... 1 pound of fat = about 3500 calories. You have about 12 weeks or so before new years, so you need to lose about 1 pound per week, which is doable and healthy. Assuming you excersize 5 days a week, you need to burn 700 calories per day. This is about an hour each of the 5 days vigorously working out on an elliptical machine. It would be easier to alter your diet a little and add moderate exercise. Consider sodas. I don't know how much you drink, but regular soda has a lot of calories. A regular 12oz can of pepsi is 150 calories. Lets assume you drink 1 regular soda per day. Between now and new years you will consume about 13,000 calories. Just switching to diet soda will get you (13000/3500) a weight loss of 3 1/2 pounds by basically doing nothing. Add to that 5 days of easy 400 calorie elliptical/treadmill and you're there. No muss, no fuss and you can have all the other stuff you always enjoy.
